🚨 Car Dashboard Warning Lights Explained

Modern vehicles are equipped with a range of dashboard lights to alert you to the status of key systems. Some are just informational, while others signal urgent issues that need immediate attention. Here’s a breakdown of the most common warning lights and what they mean:

🔴 Red Lights – Critical Warning

Stop driving as soon as it’s safe. Immediate attention needed.

  • 🔋 Battery Warning Light
    Battery not charging. May indicate alternator or electrical fault.

  • 🚨 Brake Warning Light
    Handbrake may be engaged, or there’s a brake system failure. Check brake fluid.

  • 🌡️ Engine Temperature Warning
    Engine is overheating. Stop immediately and check coolant level.

  • 🛑 Airbag Warning Light
    Airbag system fault—may not deploy in a crash. Get inspected urgently.

  • 🔒 Immobiliser / Security Warning
    Car’s anti-theft system is active. Check key or fob.


🟠 Amber/Orange Lights – Caution

Drive with care. Have the issue checked soon.

    Indicates a fault in the engine or emissions system. May affect performance.
